This old object was sourced at an auction of rare collectors items being sold by private sellers.

It is an old staff hand-carved from wood. In Africa, these sticks are traditionally purposed as weapons and walking sticks, but also represent societal ranks, ancestors, cosmological beings or exceptional people. For healers, sorcerers, diviners and hunters staffs were ritual objects used in communication with the supernatural for the power of self protection. Other staffs serve as reminders of the past, symbolising the historical, spiritual and ideological believes of the bearer and their ancestors.
