Let the Dust Settle

This beautiful photograph was taken at Londolozi Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands, South Africa in 2014 by photographer and guide Mike Sutherland. 

This photograph of a young elephant was taken as it walked towards Mike throwing dust on itself. Elephants will use the dust in an effort to cool down and alleviate irritations from insects, and as this young elephant did so it left unique marking on its trunk as well as a dust cloud behind it making for a special capture.

The print is complemented by a black oak wood frame, hand-carved with ridge detailing.
